I was luck enough to go on a rafting trip with the Wyrobeks and the Simmons
(and 7 others) last week. Below is a short excerpt of the beginning of our
trip, before my camera died. Poor camera. As I get more photos from the other
people in the trip, I'll continue the page. There are far more photos than
this, but I think these give a good feeling of what it was like.
I love panoramic shots. This is Sonya and Mono Lake (640)(800)(1024)(orig) |
After a good day of driving, we took a group photo by Mono Lake (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
We camped at French Camp (by Tom's Place) and (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
frolicked by the river. (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
The next day we saw some Joshua Trees! Neat, huh? (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
We watched Mystere, by the Circue du Solei and took pictures by the snail. It was an incredible show. (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
Then we went to explore the Venitian (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
 We saw a cute boatman (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
The rest of the group waited too long to eat food while Lauren and I wandered the strip (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
We saw the fountain show outside the Belagio (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
The next day, we drove through Zion National Park and were greeted by a beautiful moonrise (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
We took another group photo. (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
Zion has amazing geology (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
As always, it's more impressive in person... (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
Edie and Sonya and I rode most of the way through sticking our heads out of the sunroof... (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
And we finally arrived in Marble Canyon (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
where we stayed the night in a neat little apartment. (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
Early th next morning, we went down and got on the river! (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
The river was sometimes calm (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
 and sometimes not. :) (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
We found a great little spot to have lunch (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
and Mike, our guide, caught 3 fish! (we didn't eat them though) (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
The awesome scenery just keeps on going... (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
though it is broken by the occasional excitement (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
when Mike would give us little speaches before each rapid (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
and then we get wet! (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
But Thom knows how to kick back and warm up again. (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
We saw a bunch of longhorn sheep all up and down the canyon, including a whole family later on! (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
To take a break for the afternoon, we played softball in this cave. It's an incredible spot. (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
You can tell Mike loves his job. (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
Our whole week was spent sleeping in places like this. Rough, I know. (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
Keenan, Kathy, Bart, Lauren, and Lindsey (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
We stopped to look at some old Anistasi ruins, and came across this tree (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
After hiking a ways up the (hot) hillside, we came across a Kodak Moment (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
It was a popular spot for photos. (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
These were old granaries. The Anistizi would store stuff up here where it was dry (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
That evening we spent the night in Furnace Flats. It was actually the coldest night of the trip... (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
We got to have an awesome sunset to top off the fine dinner of BBQ Chicken (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
But we got to run another rapid early the next morning (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
And we got nice and cold nice and quick... ;) (640) (800) (1024) (orig) (info) |
but then my camera died. It was very sad. So this will be continued later on!
