While visiting Alsace, in the northeast of France, I visited the village of Riquweir. It is by far the most beautiful of the small towns I visited in Alsace (which consist of maybe four in the region surrounding Colmar). The center of the town was closed to cars (which seems to be common in this region), with tiny streets and quaint little shops, wood framed houses, and a feeling of ancient romance in the air. The backdrop of vinyards was exquisite, especially since the sun graced me with its rays just before setting, giving me some of the famous light of the area.
