After leaving Vichy, I got a free ride from Klaus to Colmar. It was (pretty much) on his way to his home in Homburg, Germany, and he lecomed the company. To top it off, me not speaking german and his lack of english forced us to practice our french! Best of both worlds. Anyway, I arrived in Alsace in Colmar, a nice small city enough out of the way to not have too many toursists, but well known enough to have a youth hostel. It was really a remarkable city. It has a cathedral in the middle (where I actually attended a sunday morning mass - very interesting! And beautiful), and classic Alsacian architecture everywhere. the center of the city is preserved as it was, long ago, but there's a city proper that surrounds the old city.
